The nurses are based at the surgery from 08:30 – 16:00 Monday to Friday.  The service they provide is predominantly for housebound patients although they may also make home visits where indicated by clinical need.  Some patients receive long term care/support from the team while others may just require a one off visit. The team work closely with other health and social care team members and will liaise with appropriate services on the patient’s behalf.  Services provided by the team include:-

  • End of life care, including support and symptom control.
  • Chemotherapy Support, including central line care (PICC & Hickman lines)
  • Tissue Viability (skin care), which can involve assessment of risk, wound management and dressings.
  • Catheter Management, also stoma care
  • Injections, such as vitamin B12, Clexane, Insulin, Flu Vac’s etc.
  • Continence Assessments

The Auxiliary nurses provide valuable support for the trained staff and care for a range of patients too. They carry out personal care to end of life patients, carry out blood tests and some routine medical checks and also administer dressings and eye drops.

Our clerical assistant carries out general office duties to provide support to the team. They will also liaise with patients, families, the hospital and care homes etc.
